Each week in Room 15 we select a ‘Star of the Week’ to be our class leader. This year we have a focus on our ‘School Values’. When your child is selected to be our ‘Star of the Week’ they will be asked to bring in three photos of themselves to school on the Monday to share. The photos should reflect times when they are also exhibiting these values outside of school. Examples of this could be a family photo showing them having ‘fun’ swimming in the holidays, demonstrating ‘manaakitanga’ by caring for a younger sibling, using ‘initiative’ by doing something helpful that they haven’t been asked to do or showing their ‘creativity’ doing an art or craft activity. The children will be asked to share each of the photos with the class, giving a bit of background information and explain what ‘value’ they are exhibiting. The photos along with a description of what they said will be displayed on a board in the classroom and the Blog. Every child will get a chance to be our ‘Star of the Week’ over the course of the year. We will be doing some work around this with the children in class. Below are our seven school values.

We are looking at researching our favourite authors over the next few weeks in Literacy, to find out about their road to becoming an author, the books they've written and about their lives growing up.  Please bring in a book written by an author you like tomorrow (Wednesday March 8) to share with Kahikatea 1 and 13.
Check out this link to find out why doing an 'Author Study' is fun and beneficial to your child!

Buddy Classes
Room 13 met with our buddy class Room 22 to survey them on some questions that we had prepared. Below are a few of our graphs showing our findings.

We also shared some books with them and got to know our buddy a little bit better.

Swimming
Rooms 1 and 13 have enjoyed their first couple of sessions back in the school pool. It has been great to see the children's confidence in the water!
